Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) suggested that the federal government knows the origin of the “drones” patrolling above the northeast since officials haven’t shot any down.
The New York representative went on the record after weekslong sightings of car-sized drones all over New Jersey, notably in Bedminster, where Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) lives and President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course is located. Most recently, more drones were seen over New York and Pennsylvania, but there haven’t been any attempts to shoot these drones down.

“Particularly when you hear theses stories about these drones coming collectively, multiple of them coming over the ocean into the shoreline.,we should be shooting it down and figuring out what it is. that’s why I believe our government knows and they are not being honest,” Malliotakis said. “The bottom line is they need to be honest with the public. Let us know what is going on because this doesn’t make sense.”
Drones have also been detected over the Picatinny military base, and other bases across Staten Island and even international bases. Local law enforcement and the FBI have assured the public that these are not a threat but have not publicized their origins.

According to New Jersey state Sen. Doug Steinhardt, residents are reporting daily drone activity. As a result, the state lawmakers are joining others in calling for a special legislative session to question the FBI and the governor.
In the meantime, the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily banned drones from the airspace above the military base and Trump’s golf resort. It is already against the FAA regulations to man drones after sunset and before sunrise, when these drones have been spotted.
